For one night the Steirerball brings Styria into the state rooms of Vienna's Hofburg. Organised by the association of Styrians in Vienna, it pairs regional tradition with Viennese ball culture: folk dress rather than tails, brass bands alongside dance orchestras, and food and wine from the home province. For Styrians living in Vienna it is one of the social fixtures of the year.
Highlights
- A Styrian wine road recreated inside the Hofburg
- Ceremonial tapping of the first beer barrel and the traditional pumpkin-seed-oil egg dish
- Midnight quadrille followed by the raffle draw
