The Rudolfina Redoute is Vienna's largest and most tradition-steeped masked ball, dating back to 1899. It is always held on Carnival Monday at the Hofburg and draws around 3,600 guests. Its distinguishing features are the mask requirement for all women and ladies' choice until midnight – identities are revealed only at the unmasking.
